There are many instances where even the most "harmless" additive has had contraindications and caused more harm than good. We believe everyone here is responsible and understands that, but it is important to re-state.

Daughter with Crohn's & Complications

Postby Zylah » 30 Nov 2015, 08:48

Hello, everyone. :hiya: I'd like to request healing thoughts, prayers, etc on behalf of my daughter. She was diagnosed with Crohn's disease several years ago, and this past Spring it became quite severe. I kept taking her to the ER with horrible pain, where they would tell us she had polycystic ovarian syndrome and a cyst had burst. This was true, but as I informed them, Crohn's has been linked in several studies with reproductive issues like that. Despite my own background in health care and my evidence in the form of articles etc, no one really listened.

FINALLY she got so sick they couldn't dismiss it so easily, and they found adhesions between the intestines and reproductive organs [caused by, you got it! Crohn's]. The adhesions had formed pockets which became severely infected; she had to get emergency surgery to remove half her reproductive system, and she may yet lose what's left.

While the hospitals were giving me the runaround, I tried appealing to the children's father, who some of you may recall to be a fundamentalist evangelical lunatic of the worst variety. He makes great money and has excellent insurance, far better than anything I could provide, and he lives near her old GI specialist, under whose care she did quite well. His response was that IF I admitted that everything I've done since I left him is wrong, there MIGHT be help for her. My daughter [who is 21 years old now, which I still find hard to grasp :boggle: ] heard that and refused to hear of capitulating even out of desperation, so that avenue was closed.

Since I'm unable to stay home and care for her, my daughter has gone back East to my family, where she's being well looked after as she recovers from surgery. However, at this point her surgical wound is showing signs of a possible fistula, which is a complication she doesn't need.

This has been a long battle for her, and it won't be over anytime very soon. So if you think of her, please spare her some good energy or whatever you'd like to send. Thank you. :curtsey:

First of all I'd like to say how lovely it is to see you back on the board, Zylah. It's been a while :) and second, I'll be sending healing energy to your daughter today. I'm so sorry that you've been through so much, but it's good to hear that she's on the mend now.

With many Blessings

Heddwen :)

Hello again; I'm writing between my day and night shifts as I consume as much caffeine as humanly possible :tea: :java:

Just heard very bad news from my girl, she's back in the hospital this time with a bowel obstruction. They put in a nasogastric tube in the hope it'll resolve, but if it doesn't do so within a few days, she will need another surgery with the scar from the old one still not healed completely.

This is heartbreaking to me; this illness is really handicapping her starting out on her bright beautiful future. She is really in a bad state of mind, and I don't blame her.

Any thoughts, prayers, etc. would be most welcome. Thank you all.

Oh, so sorry to hear that. It is so hard to see our children suffer. Prayers for patience, hope and healing. For those with medical skills and for you and other family, who can only wait, but whose love is so important.
May we know your daughter's name?
Go easy on the caffeine!;) try to get as much rest as you can & take care of yourself. Blessings x

Your empathy and kind words are much appreciated. Her name is Arianyth.

[and yes, I *must* go easier on the caffeine, as soon as my body stops cursing me for messing with my circadian rhythms lol; can't afford to fall asleep during a nursing shift! :warm: ]

Thank you again.
