Shaman - Kim Stanley Robinson

Postby Crinia » 21 Jan 2014, 10:51

We received the book "Shaman" by Kim Stanley Robinson as a gift recently. I'm a fan of his work so assumed I would enjoy the book. My partner got hold of it first and although he rarely reads fiction I saw that he couldn't put it down so I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.
KSR usually writes futuristic science fiction but in this instance he has written about the journey of an apprentice shaman during the ice age. The book has a strong connection to earth, and has many poems. There is Thorn the shaman, Heather the healer and Loon the apprentice who have something of the druid, ovate and bard within them.
I'd recommend it to everyone on this board who enjoys a bit of fiction.
