Saying Hello & Goodbye in Breton

Postby Boadicea » 28 Jun 2013, 06:48

Hi there,

I was just wondering if Druids have any sort of hello or goodbye they use on a personal level with friends or other members? I'm also just curious because I enjoy linguistics... So, how do you say hello and good bye and how should they be pronounced?

Thank you all!

NOTE TO STAFF: I put this same post in some of the other language sub-forums - I'm not trying to spam or anything, I'd just like to learn this in several of the languages that existed during the time of the original Druids.

I live with a Breton teacher. He says:

In Breton, for hello, you can say:
Demat
Salud
Mont a ra? (not really asking how it's going, as in English) (sort of like someoen posted Sut mae in Welsh. It's like, What's up? in English, where it's less a question and more of a greeting)
and
Kenavo "goodbye"
