"View active topics" doesn't index all forums

Postby ShadowCat » 15 Dec 2014, 09:56

Hi all,

I've noticed that the "view active topics" option on the homepage doesn't show all the boards. Which boards are included in this very useful overview appears rather random.
For instance:
- most public boards are shown, but the post I wrote in Druid Living yesterday doesn't show;
- the members-posts on the bardic board come up, so do those on the Portuguese board for me, but not those of the German and Dutch Bardic boards;
- the ovate-topics are shown, but the ovate-introductions not.

Is this intentional or a glitch?

I noticed this with the French part, and since I didn't see any Portuguese or Dutch I suppose it's the same for them. I have no idea what criteria (if any) apply.

Oh, that's annoying, because that's what I've been using to navigate the forums for months!

Did either of you tell Selene or any of the Admin(Art & Bracken) about this?

Good to know it isn't just me. It could have been a usersetting or browsersetting that I wasn't familiair with. Thank you for replying and confirming that there might be something odd with this function. I'm wondering if it might be related to the meltdown we had about a year and some months ago.

Michael, I'll PM our dear boardconjurers later today about this.

One thing is that you never see a topic you just posted into flagged as having new posts if you don't go to the forum to read your post. I think this is logical, as you know you posted, and the system doesn't need to remind you.

That completely makes sense, yes. Those posts aren't marked anymore indeed, but they are still on the list when I click "active topics". To me, the posts on several subfora doen't even show up on that list, entirely, wether I did reply or not.

Selene just got back to me. She wrote:
That sounds like it's probably a glitch in the software, and not something we are likely going to be able to solve since we're using the most up-to-date version that's been released. I'm sorry about that if it causes difficulty for you, but have you ever tried the "View New Posts" button instead? That's what I use to check the board every day and it seems to work fine.

Just kicking this once more because I found out that the view new posts now didn't index all posts either: I found a few new once in "hearthfire" by clicking on "active topics" that weren't shown under "new posts". So, there is still some unexplained boardjuju going on here :boggle:
