Homelight

By Grey Dove

We came to a dark forest
Of furs and pines,
In the deepening dusk
The snow caked branches cut out the sky.
A frightened swallow’s forlorn chirp
Sounded Hauntingly
Through the trees,
Sleigh bells tinkled in the distance.

A small light
Flickered, twinkled
Then became a steady glow.
And we started forward!
Renewed vigour in our lightened steps
For now we knew,
We were nearly home.

TREES ENTWINED
BY CAROLANN

In the golden glow of leaves that fall
Oak and Yew, entwined, stand tall,
planted by nature and grown by the power,
of the light of the sun and the moon,
so as the days grow short
and cold nights lengthen,
The oak slows down to sleep.
The Yew stands guard
through the stillness of winter,
wrapped in the blanket of snow
Until the air warms
and the suns starts to glow
she welcomes
her friend... back to life.

The Initiation

Postby AshRocks » 30 Sep 2017, 19:20

This poem flowed out of me on the morning following my Bardic Initiation at Samhiunn, under the crescent moon of Cerridwen.

The Initiation

Queen Goddess of Eire
Looks up from the North
From Her mantle of soil
Know that Life will grow forth.

Awen singing from the East
Sage cleansing the Air
Each rock, tree, and creature
Unites with me there.

Nine times the bark reddens
Three times the Fire burns
Maiden Moon dancing with me
As heaven's arc turns.

Kilcummen Cede Waters
Joining Celtic Sea salt
Bless this Circle of Love
Within Cauldron womb's vault.

Find Peace in the center
Spread Peace far and wide
Wisdom inspires me
Play and purpose applied.

Red whiskey is offered
Swords cleansed and laid down
Stag and Doe blessings
Cerridwen's seeds sown.

By moonlight

In the dark night
Long after silence falls
Look up and see her dance awake the sky star by star
Hear her voice call to the sea to motion
Listen to her song in pain or in joy and know
Life is both sharp and sweet, and truth will see the way
When for one suspended moment the clouds part
And she smiles

Soft Sounds,Strong Storm

By Paula Dugan

Burst of sun through lazy leaves
Mice run, shrew, mole and vole thrive
Cardnal's call to his life's love
Small sounds of wooded land lives

Woodpecker taps timber's tones
The limber wind slaps,flaps,whines
Warbler's fine tripping tunes
Deer soon differ, tipping tines

Fake fight, grecking spat, kit skit
Take flight, dove croons, coos, hoots
Sing songs found -mockingbird scats
Chipmunk chats, around squirrel scoots

Teasing trees, grim whip wind fell
Leafless limbs rip sky skin frail
Bruised purple sky broods,fills
Rain spills, clouds suffused fret, fail

Full-throated thunder blasts its boasts
A bloated gale casts its curse
Trees crack, crash,branches break,bust
Rain pellets pummel, hiss, burst.

OUTCAST

i, the banished, outcast rook
in a crooked, twisted tree
from far away i see you there
you don't look and don't see me

i see your faces as you pass
i see your truths, i see your lies
your stories written in your eyes
all these things are clear to me

outside
always looking in
feathers ruffled by the wind
watching for a winter sun

the beauty of the world, begun,
hangs above the vaulted dark,
the certainties of fathomed night,
and there, see there....the flash, the spark

i see the twinkle of the star
the door still stands and swings ajar
