This is great. I am entirely behind switching to swords passed on by the lady of the lake as a system of government.

I saw it too... it's a cute story and it tells me that the force is strong in that one :yoda:

Oh Cool! Could that have been the sword prop used in the movie Excalibur from back in the 1980s? It looks like it! Wow! What a find! |-)

What a magical story for that little girl :)

I understand the original sword used in the film "Excalibur" is in the keeping of Arthur Pendragon (Loyal Arthurian Warband). The story of how he came to own it is told in his book "Trials of King Arthur".

Mark Wilkins - "people who can vouch I had the sword back then because I had a phase when I would have a few drinks and go around knighting the people of Bodmin when I lived there."
Sounds perfectly normal to me!

I do think the story of the little girl finding the sword is lovely. It really doesn't matter what the origin of the sword is. It is the magic of the moment that matters. Once again in that moment, Excalibur did rise from the waters by the hand of a Maiden. For those of us who believe in portents, perhaps we should watch the news media with particular interest. :anx:

Malcomb - re 'go around knighting the people of Bodmin' .... what fun! I'd love to do something like that. I'm not sure though about doing it around here though - not enough people, too many sheep :ram: :-)

Awww, that story actually made me tear up a little. The quote from the former owner is so affirming and sweet: “The lake decided to give it to somebody worthy. I love the legend. I hope for her it's a magical thing and that she gets strength from it.”
.
“Herein therefore lies our present problem: to find forms of expression for the time-spirit of the seasons in such a way as to enrich the spirit of devotion to the soil, to express and to intensify co-operation with nature.”
