The four directions

Postby shirley mclaren » 23 Jul 2017, 07:49

I have been treading the Path for thirteen years now and always greet the four directions first thing each day. For the past year or more, I am getting a real physical tingling sensation with goosebumps, when I greet the element of the North, (earth element, winter, midnight, starry night sky, intuition etc). I am wondering what this means, if anything,

Re my previous post, I don't get any similar reaction when greeting the other three directions, only the North.

Hi shirley mclaren - unfortunately your interesting question has appeared in the humour and whimsy section of this forum which I am sure was not your intention. Perhaps you might wish to delete this thread and ask your question in the General Discussion section or even the Ovate section?

Everything we do in Druidry is intensely personal. While I could wax lyrical about the perilous state of the World, how we seem to be plunging into the final winter of our species and how our destruction of our planet is bringing Nature to its knees, I am sure that is not the reason for your current reaction to the North. The North is not only about winter but also about endings and new beginnings. The Wheel turns and winter is a brief moment of rest before the glory of a new Spring. I suggest you therefore look into your own life and consider what no longer has a place in it, cast it away and decide what new opportunity you wish to embark on. But of course the North and Earth are also the home of the Ovate. It may be simply that the many new doors which are now opening to you are welcoming you and the tingle you feel is that of excitement and opportunity.

What ever the reason, I am sure it is positive and you should embrace it.

Hi Shirley,

As for the tingling sensation, I sense it too whenever I'm 'in circle' or at a sacred site. It grew from mere goosebumps to tingling all over! Perhaps it will with you too. I tend to embrace it as I feel that it marks a special time and place in my life and the mundane into the magickal.

with many Blessings,

Heddwen.

Thank you both. Each of these responses has resonated with me, in particular malcomb.
