Long ago on a cold and snowy winter day someone has invented the first Celtic knot! :D

That Celtic heart is messing with my head. I keep trying to visualize exactly how it was done, and I haven’t quite got it figured out yet. Did you make it yourself, Alwin?

*lol* Funny it tells a whole story! :robinhood:

Ok, a car pulled up from the right, stopped and moved backwards into a parking space on the left. And when it left after a while, it produced the diagonal line. Here you can tell the moving direction from the angel of the profile.

I haven't been driving a car for more than twenty years now and fly only on very rare occasions. Instead I use my bicycle all year round (during the winter now with spikes-tyres) or use our excellent public transport for distances over 15km (˜10 miles). This is my little contribution to help reducing the carbon footprint. :)

That is an excellent contribution—it’s not a small contribution at all, in my opinion!

I personally haven’t succeeded in converting to an entirely carless lifestyle, alas. But since the year 2007, I’ve done my best to walk the one-mile commute to my office almost every day, and I’ve aimed to combine my other travels in ways that minimize my car usage. So for the past decade, I’ve needed to drive only two or three times per month, on average. :) I feel genuinely fortunate, too, that my city is on an Amtrak line here in the States. That means I get to ride the train to the OBOD Gulf Coast Gathering in March. The train will take me as far as Hammond, Louisiana, where I’ll pick up a rental car for the last 32 miles. If I wasn’t taking the train, I’d have to drive (or fly) about 1,100 miles, which wouldn’t be half as much fun.

I haven’t needed winter tires for my bicycle because my town is so compact that nearly everyplace I need to go is within two miles of my house. So I’ve primarily used my bicycle only during the summer and autumn months, for traveling three miles into the country to visit our community garden plot and to pick up our weekly CSA subscription share from a local farm. I have a little trailer for my bike that I use to haul my cargo.

Thus my main vehicles would make distinctly different sets of tracks than the tracks in your picture, which is why I was confused (that’s my excuse, and I’m sticking with it!).

You too are doing a lot! :)
I guess most people don't even have a bicycle not to mention a trailer!
*lol* When I moved out from my parents, I packed all my stuff on a trailer. This way we even moved a bed, a table and a sofa to my first little apartment.

A train station nearby is really a plus! I love trains too. If it's not a packed full commuter train it's quite relaxing. I haven't been to your country yet so I can't imagine the incredible long distances! 1100 miles would be the distance from Zürich to Helsinki, driving at least through eight countries! Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland! Amazing!

Here is the same malachite captured under different light conditions.

And a snake jasper. To be honest, to me it looks more like shattered bones than snake skin.

Just for a change; I have been experimenting with digital painting.
Hope you like it! :)

I also have put it into the Eisteddfod "Digital-Art"-Thread.

Yes, I like it a lot Alwin. :) It's beautifully composed, the contrast between colour and mono is superb, an outstanding piece. Well done! :applause:
