Sweet - check out the face in the last picture - It's towards the bottom to the left of the roundish stone (as you're looking at it). :) Oh and there's another just below the stick to the slight right. Water Drenched Gnomes

How nifty! I can see both faces that Michael mentioned.

I’ve just been catching up on this thread again, now that the craziness of the solar eclipse is past. How long was your cycling tour, Alwin?

Cool! You have got an eye for that! :D

I'd love to have seen this eclipse but it was simply too far away from Europe. But I was lucky to see a total eclipse in Germany 1999.

In 14 days I cycled about 600-700km (~400 Miles). I love this kind of travelling and being so close to nature - also exposed to all kind of weather of course.

That bicycle tour looks and sounds heavenly, Alwin. The average daily distance would be far enough to provide a good challenge, but not so far as to become utterly exhausting. Well, that last part would largely depend upon the climbs, I suppose.

I’ve been gradually intensifying my own cycling efforts and am now riding distances I’ve never ridden before. Don’t laugh, but during the past two months, I’ve managed to pedal close to 100 miles every week. I’m now aiming to complete my first half-century in September (I’ve pre-registered for a 56.6-mile, or 91-km, supported ride). It’s been especially great to watch the wildflowers blooming in succession beside the roads, all through the spring and summer.
:rose:
I’ve got a picture of my bicycle posted here. I’d love to eventually take her on a real tour, when I’ve built up sufficient stamina.

You’re an inspiration!

I normally prefer relaxed rides and are not looking for exhausting challenges.
Usually I make a lot of stops for sightseeing, photography, taking a swim in a lake or walking to a lookout point, for siesta, having a coffee in a restaurant and chatting with people,... Household stuff also takes a lot of time like finding the next supermarket, buying food, cooking, washing cloths, fixing the bike, putting up the tent,...
So if you are on a longer tour, there is absolutely no need for a hurry or getting up at 5 o'clock! :)
Unless it's becoming a terribly hot day like this year. The most exhausting thing this time were not the wind or the climbings but the heat and high humidity! Puh!
And often I didn't sleep well because of the proximity of the campingsites to the motorways and railway lines. But good sleep is crucial so one of the most important things on a bicycle tour are earplugs. The best you can find!
I usually sleep in my tent on official campingsites. But together with all the camping cooker and stuff it adds a lot of weight to the luggage. So for the future I think about staying in hotels and B&B's instead and going to the restaurant.

Wow, cool! I haven't seen your posting before. :)

I'm impressed! This is quite a lot! Have you always been cycling on a regular basis?
Stamina is normally overestimated. If you start with distances like 20-30 miles per day the body will adapt very quickly and after one week you will be able to cycle something like 60 miles without being exhausted.

I always use new tyres and inflate them to the maximum allowed. This saves a lot of energy!

And here is a map of my longest tour so far, when I was on the road for six month.

The hardest part but by far the most interesting and exciting was Norway! All these fjords an nature,... just awesome!
