Mount Haemus Gathering 2016

Postby Songs from the Psaltery » 10 Sep 2016, 12:04

Hello, :hiya:

I thought I would share a photo of me performing Bardic duties with my bowed psaltery at last weekend's Mount Haemus Gathering at Sheepdrove in Berkshire. I was very kindly invited by Philip Carr-Gomm & Liz Cruse, and it was a great opportunity to hear the speakers and meet others from OBOD - such a friendly, warm and welcoming group! I'm looking forward to performing at further OBOD gatherings and events and to meeting other Bards in person on this wonderful journey!

The psaltery in the photo is hand-built from Yew tree wood, and is my pride & joy! I'm afraid I don't know who took the photo so unable to give credit...

That is beautiful, thank you so much for sharing. I'll confess I'd never heard a bowed psaltery played until I followed your YouTube link on the introductions thread.

It's one of my dreams to someday attend a Mount Haemus Gathering. Maybe in 2020...

Hi Tracy, :hiya: you are welcome. I'd never heard of a bowed psaltery before I came across the man who made mine! I now cannot imagine my life without it…

The speakers at Mount Haemus were so informative, am sure you will love it when you get to go ;)
