I only shapeshifted once during a workshop. Never believed i could do it until i suddenly found myself at the edge of a cliff (i wouldn't even come near the edge of anything, but i had no trace of fear in me at that point), saw my feet and legs change into an eagle's and when the transformation was complete i spread my wings and flew. The feeling of complete freedom was amazing... awesome!

Yes Night Hawk Taliesin was re-born, But he started out as Gwion Bach, he fled from Ceridwen, when accidentally he took in the wisdom from Ceridwens brew she had been making for a year, Three drops of the magical potion spat out from her cauldron onto Gwion's thumb, scalding him and he sucked his thumb withou thinking and took in the three drops and the wisdom meant for Ceridwens son.
Gwion fled and Ceridwen chased him in a furious rage, just as Ceridwen was about to grab Gwion he changed into a Hare....ie shapeshifted.
Ceridwen then shapeshifted into a hound, Gwion leaped into a river and transformed into a Salmon, Ceridwen became an otter and so the chase continued, as she almost caught him , Gwion changed into a bird, and Ceridwen became a Hawk. And finally Gwion changed into a grain of wheat as he flew into a pile of grain in a final attempt to escape Ceridwens wrath. Ceridwen became a hen and ate Gwion as a grain of wheat, but the seed inside her quickened and Gwion was transformed into a baby and was born 9 months later.
Ceridwen was determined to finally kill Gwion, but as he was born, he was so beautiful she couldnt kill him, so set him adrift in the sea in a bag of leather.
When he was discovered by Elffin, he was re-named Taliesin.
The depth of a soul cannot be measured by what appears on the surface.

smile. night hawk, it is not that easy, i am sorry to say. further more, i do not believe everyone can shift. i believe that some have that ability all the time, some are only gifted it as needed, and for others it is a once in a lifetime thing, never to be experienced again. there are those that go through life never experiencing shifting at all. it is like singing. you sing beautifully, and i make toads run for cover. we may not all be blessed with the same talents. this thread just brings out the stories of the ones who have experienced these things. it does not imply that we all must shift. if you were to start a thread on singing, sigh, i would have nothing to offer except how i scare the chickens from laying. so do not wonder that you have not grown feathers yet, cherub, they may be long in coming. smile. and yet, one day, right in the middle of song, who knows?...

an important thing to remember is, we usually do not get a choice of what we shift to when it comes on us. it just happens.

Shapeshifting is something I would actually like to learn how to do. Does anyone know of any techniques that can help?

I consider it especially generous of me not to hit the little bugger with a rock.
Very Druidic :-) :-) :-) On the other hand, noone has ever said we must be patients all the time.

For me, 'Shape-shifting' is not so much about literally changing shape, but has more to do with a 'shift' in vibration. Its almost as though I 'step into' the required vibrational harmonic, depending on the 'task at hand'. The most recent and pronounced example of this was when I had visited a friend who lives out in the middle of nowhere in the welsh mountains, we we left in the 'small hours' and had to cross several fields to get back to the car...there was no moon...it was pitch black and I have night-blindness...couldn't see a thing! I just stood still for a moment and thought of the birds that have excellent night vision......I then found myself stepping forward into a shape, and was instantly able to locate the track I needed...it was visible as light...from then on I walked with confidence and was also able to guide one of my friends!
Another occasion involved a Buzzard...he was flying overhead as I was riding on the back of my friends trike...I felt myself soar with the Buzzard and was viewing the landscape from his perspective......it was stunning...He had let me share his vibration for a while.......needless to say, I had to remind myself that I was supposed to be on the back of the trike!!!
Blessings

Night Hawk... we love you as you are anyway, shifter or not... keep singing birdie.

Does it have to be an animal? Can it be a tree, a bush, a flower, or could it even be something man made like a car?
