The most widely believed etymology for the word druid is that it means "the wise of the oak", stemming from the observation that the druids of old tended to work in the vicinity of oak trees.
If at first you don't succeed, I hope it wasn't brain surgery.

Have a look here at the continuing importance of the oak tree in the British countryside
https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/learn/ ... glish-oak/
and within the modern British psyche. The term as "strong as an oak" is still in common usage.
Within the ancient Irish (Brehon) laws trees were protected according to their importance. The Oak was one of the Noble trees - demanding a higher price if illegally cut down

They are one of the keystone trees to a British deciduous woodland, so their importance in Druidry is still high.

across the street from my home is a paved walking path that follows the edge of a rather large creek. it is a beautiful walk year round. I was finding oak leaves blown to the ground along this path, but could not locate the tree no matter how hard i searched. this past fall i located a whole row of oak trees--small ones, but beautiful ones. now i have a source for my oak leaves that i fill my medicine bag with and hang on my bedside for peace and good fortune. the mystery is solved. j.
