nightmode setting?

Post by Bunnygirl »

Is there a Night Mode or Dark Theme setting I can't find? I usually prefer Night Mode since it is easier on my eyes. Thanks!

Mine is still blue and I can't seem to find any option to change the colour scheme. (Where? Where?)

I don't think you can change the colour scheme. The problem with the green is that it is a bespoke (made specifically for the forum) theme which would cost OBOD significantly to maintain. The reason it had to be dropped (deprecated in techy speak) is that it wasn't compatible with the latest version of the forum.

Night mode is usually something you can set on your device (computer, tablet or smartphone).

Thank you DarC - I think I mixed up the bit about the night mode setting with Runefang's comment about the green 8-) might have been wishful thinking too

A long long loooongggg time ago I did admin a phpbb forum. Then it was possible to offer a few of the standard phpbb coloroptions on the adminlevel that users can choose from in their settings then.

This might be a lead: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styles-2

I disliked the green and use the standard blue for this one. My personal favorite on phpbb's is subsilver ;)

Hi, ShadowCat and everyone,

The problem with that (or so I'm told) is that this board is so heavily modded (e.g., to allow for a lot of poll choices for the Eisteddfodau, etc.) that it's way more complicated to offer multiple color schemes than it is on more normal phpBB sites. Because OBOD has to pay extra for anything beyond routine software updates to maintain security and function, I'm reluctant to ask our tech support folks for cosmetic modifications. I know the plain blue is boring for some folks, but I hope you all understand why we do what we do and can tolerate it. :)

The blue is a small price to pay to pay a small price. No problemo :)

Yeah, custom anything adds up. I had no idea, but then again I've been away from adminning a long time.

I'm perfectly fine with our standard theme of "boring blue". It's non-distracting and clean.

There are actually a few chrome plugins that change any page regardless of there settings. Here is one I often use:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... pojg?hl=en

It's called Midnight Lizard. You can turn it on and off per page and custom your color scheme. I under stand the desire for darkmode due to light sensitivity.
May the peace of the season find you,
