Registering: gender can't be "not specified"

Dear people,

This evening I registered for this forum. As I am used to, I choose "not specified" to the question which gender I have.
Because I really don't understand why this question is this important, that people can't join this forum if they choose not provide this information...

Then I was positively surprised to see the option "not specified". So, I choose this option.
However, it isn't possible to choose this option if you want to register... Unfortunately!

Is it possible to make gender an optional question? Or at least make all three answers possible answers?
I do hope so! Thanks in advance.

Greetings,
Cyrion

Hello and welcome Cyrion.

You are certainly not the only one that has commented on this one, this topic is a large discussion about the same question:

viewtopic.php?f=158&t=41391

Please know that the reason is technical and the limited options do not reflect the opinions of us here about genderdiversity.

Hi Cyrion, it's on my list if things to check & resolve, but I've had a busier than usual summer  hopefully I'll get a chance this autumn

Hi ShadowCat and DaRC,

Thank you for your quick replies. What a pity we got caught in a broken software issue! However, good to know that it wasn't an idea or wish from the OBOD forum.
Hope that the problem will get solved one day...

Greetings,
Cyrion
