Druid names for birds?

Postby WilliamTaliesin » 15 Jul 2018, 16:20

Do any Druids know the names of the Druid birds, or birds sacred to the Druids?

The druid animal oracle includes animal names in gaelic, if that is what you are looking for:

Wren - druien
Raven - bran
Owl - cailleach oidhche
Hawk - seabhac
Goose - geadh
Eagle - iolair
Crane - corr
Blackbird - druid dhubh

Who are you? This is the question that every tree in the forest will ask you to answer. Remember that the right answer must include the word WE...

I found is nice page showing bird names in different Celtic languages
https://www.omniglot.com/language/celti ... /birds.htm

Or, since you've asked this on the Welsh board, here is a bigger list in Welsh
http://www.heliwr.com/birds.html

Were there any names in particular you were looking for?
