Visiting the Dublin area

Hi! I am planning a visit to the Dublin area in March and would be glad of any suggestions of places to go and things to see.
Newgrange and Tara are on my list already.
As I will be there over the Spring Equinox it would be great to get to an open ritual if there is one. Thanks in advance, Oakapple

Very timely posting, Oakapple, as I will visit the Dublin area for a few days in April and am interested in the same thing. Seems you just beat me to the post!

Greetings,

Some things to do.... all depends on your interests.

Firstly, from today's paper, some general spiritual retreat options: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/tra ... 68759.html

In Dublin.

First stop must be the National Museum:

Bring your well charged-up credit card for the book shop at the museum.

Not far away is the Royal Irish Academy. Ask very nicely, and they might let you see the Book of Ballymote and other treasures.

Then the Trinity Library for the Book of Kells and other treasures: http://www.tcd.ie/Library/manuscripts/book-of-kells.php

For a bit of "time out" from the mainstream tourist trail, go for lunch at the Chester Beatty Library. http://www.cbl.ie/

Want to meet people socially? Try here for dates: http://paganfederationireland.webs.com/ ... pagans.htm

General info here: http://www.irishdruidnetwork.org/index.html

Further afield.

A tip about Newgrange. There are several tour options. Most people go for a visit to the main site. Your time may be limited, so go for the Knowth option. Much more interesting and fewer people.

Glendalough makes a great day trip: http://www.sacred-destinations.com/ireland/glendalough

You may get some visit ideas here: http://www.thinplaces.net/thinplacestour.htm

If you have time, go North: http://www.armagh.co.uk/Visitor-Informa ... ables.aspx

Or a bit West: http://www.rathcroghan.ie/

Enjoy!!!

Thanks Dathi, those links will keep me busy for a while. I'm now thinking Newgrange AND Knowth.

Dathi-

I have visited some of these wonderful locations you suggested, though not all of them. Thank you for the direction!
