Brigid's spread

Post by Fitheach » 31 Dec 2011, 02:42

This Tarot spread is inspired by the Celtic Saint and Goddess, Brigid, which I call Brigid’s Three Gifts.

Brigid, whether Catholic Saint of Celtic Goddess is traditionally considered the patroness Poets, Healers and Blacksmiths, which is tantamount to the three branches of the Druid Order - Bards, Ovates and Druids. She lends her gifts and skills in these three spheres, to those who ask Her. In this reading, we draw three cards to determine what we can learn from the three spheres. One can draw from one to three cards at each level. Threes, and multiples of threes, are sacred in Celtic tradition.

1. The gift of the Poet or Bard – Ask yourself what your chief storyline is right now. You are on your own “Hero’s Journey”. What is the theme of your story?

2. The Gift of the Healer/Seer or Ovate – What needs healing right now? What gifts do you bring, or need, to create a healing space. Ovates were both healers and seers. Which are you? Are you both? These cards should give you a hint.

3. The Gift of the Priest or Druid – These were the philosophers, magicians, teachers, mediators, and leaders of the community, based on their superior skills and knowledge. What do you bring to the table? What have you learned, what do you need, or what do you teach? Do you seek guidance or offer guidance?
