Hello and ....Fonts

Hello and blessings to all,
Although I have been a member of the order for some years I rarely post-I have degenerative spinal condition that makes sitting on a chair quite painful...
But now I have a question---a quandry even -if you will-a poser :???:

Whenever I try to use the Ogham font on my computer {PC}, in the upright position the actual fews come out backwards so that -for instance-Beth comes out as Huath, Luis comes out as Duir and so on.
I have tried to find a font to download that does not do this, and of course I can simply adapt by -for instance- if I need to use Beth, I press the H key for Huath. However this is somewhat tiresome, so..........
Does any of you good people know from whence I can download a working and "right-way-around" ogham font from? Or perhaps somebody has had the same problem and found a cure some other way....?

Either way
wish blessings and good thoughts to y'all :)

Hiya, have a look at the bottom of this page...
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/ogham.htm
Maybe it will work for you - I've not used it.

Hi DaRC,

thanks so much for the info, but alas, and indeed alack, it was a no go as well.
It's such a bizare problem that I suspect that maybe my computer is doing something strange to the font....otherwise other folks would have had the same problem.....on the other hand, I've got loadsa fonts on the PC and they all come out the right way around.

Once again, thanks for trying

Ok - you're bringing out the natural techy problem solver in me...
what operating system are you (Windows XP, Vista etc...)?
Does the same occur in internet explorer and windows?

Finally, another more off the wall option, have you considered creating your own ogham font?

I'm using Mac Snow Leopard. Some time ago I downloaded all the ogham fonts I could find here on the web ( OT, TT..) but not one worked. The ones especially for Apple where made a long time ago and I think they were for the 9.x series and don't work on the newer Mac's.

Does anybody knows where I can download Ogham Fonts for Mac 10.6 ?

Thank you very much,
Peace and Blessings,

FYI,

The Geneva Font in Mac OS X includes an Ogham unicode block. It also includes Runic letters. The Ogham displays right side up with a continuous bar. Use Character Viewer (search for Ogham) or better PopChar to insert these letters.

If you have the Geneva or other unicode font with Ogham, these should display properly:

ᚂᚂᚃᚄᚅᚆᚇᚈᚉᚊᚋᚌᚍᚎᚏᚐᚑᚒᚓᚔᚕᚖᚗᚘᚙᚚ᚛᚜

Hi all
and thanks to all who have replied with information: unfortunately though thus far things remain the same
Hi DaRC
my PC runs Windows XP Home edition 2002 service pack 3.

Actually when I say "things remain the same" it's not strictly accurate.
For a while things got a lot worse and the order of the fews became confused, however I managed to fix that.
So back to reversed fews now. :???:

A lot of thanks Kernos.

It displayed properly, found them in character viewer and works well in Pages too.
I'm now trying to figure out if it's also possible to write them vertically.

Blessings,

I have done that using photoshop (or other image program), typing, flattening and rotating. The problem is that you have an image instead of selectable text.

I found an easier way, and your text remains editable. In Pages, write your ogham text in a shape and rotate the shape.
