Moonsheen Ceilidh Mòr
He had a great last day. It was finally warm and sunny and he got to sleep on his pillow in the front window. He got a lot of petting and brushing and we discontinued the IV and insulin shots. He also got to eat what he wanted, which was smoked salmon in quantity.
He went quietly into the night as the moon rose and the sun set, and is now with his chosen patroness, Sekmet.
He was much loved and will be much missed.
Fios anama a Ceilidh, beannachadh mo caraid.

Re: Moonsheen Ceilidh Mòr
Ceilidh
As the tide of time
Pulls you away
I’ll swim that sea
To be with you again
The feelings come in waves
And at every crest
I cry your name
Ceilidh come back to me.
You’re the lion of my heart
Your ferocity made me tremble
In spite of your tiny size
Our pocket lion.
But it was the gentle, healing soul
Who sent me into slumber
And healed my heart
Of all anxiety and pain
Who will heal me now?
Then you come back to me
In a warm glow
And you are here again
Our longest day together
A kitty spa of pet and salmon
and brushing fur and tears
As we waited for the night
We took photo after photo
And gathered your brush-shed fur
Talismans
To keep you with us forever
You lay on your last bed - Michael’s lap
His hands holding you so close
And you stared into my eyes
And I fell into your soul
He went quietly into the night
as the moon rose and the sun set,
and is now with his chosen patroness,
Sekmet.
We held a wake, with scotch,
Michael holding your still body
You looked like mighty Aslan
On the broken table of Narnia
The angel of death
Took your body away
One last kiss
And my heart broke
We took away the empty things
Too hard to look at –
your bowl and bed
And kitty litter
I see you everywhere
Purring contentedly on the couch
Lying between Michael and I
Where you died
Jumping on new legs
Inexhaustible and alive
A spirit in the house and yard
And even under desks at work
I wake up
to you nuzzling me
And I reach for you.
I feel a tingle in my hands
I cry and you lick my tears
May you never fade, my Scottish Lion.
There is a piece of my heart
That is your bed forever
The pain I feel isn’t emptiness
But fullness
It’s how much you fill my heart
And you are here.

My sympathies to you both. What a beautiful cat! It's so hard to lose such a loving companion.
I'm lighting a candle for Moonsheen to find peace and friends in the Summerlands while he waits for you.

I am so sorry to hear this. May the dear one find happiness walking in the fields of the otherworld. May you find comfort in this thought.

Thank you. I'm sure he'll be waiting for us in the Otherword, if he hasn't found a new body and new people take care of.
