For Socks the lap ninja

who passed suddenly yesterday, she'd hidden her illness well so the vet said.
We weren't expecting or ready for her leaving,
expecting her mother would be preceding.
Let the sky weep for Socks is dead.

She was a scatty lively bundle of bouncing energy;
our evening greeter
our lap ninja
our morning friend
now we turn and mourn our friend.

I prayed to my gods to take her home
her spirit to the Summer land
her body to the mother land
and the sky wept for Socks was dead.

Thor came rumbling over head
a double Rainbow flowing gold
took her spirit, one not bold,
then Frigga took her into bed
and holds her to her breast
in her eternal rest
and we all wept for Socks is dead.

That's heartbreaking, Dave. I know too well the pain you feel and hope your memory of her joyful life will bring you comfort.

Thanks all for your support and comments
we're currently wondering how a cat so small can leave such a big space...

Your poem brings tears to my eyes,
tears for the ache in my heart left by my animalfriends that preceded me to the summerland,
tears in fear of the certain moment somewhere in the future when even more of my companions will depart,
tears in sympathy for the acute ache and emptyness in your life, heart and lap...

The pawprints will always remain on your heart and soul...

(((hug)))
