Ogham Studies - Ngetal (Fern)

Post by Fitheach » 01 Nov 2006, 15:26

:ngetal: Ngetel

The secret, furtive Fern,
Whose seeds grant invisibility.
Where being observant we can learn,
Of every possibility.

The Faeries guard Fern’s powers well,
And if you seek to find,
Where this magic plant does dwell,
It may be you the fairies blind!

But if you dare to use this leaf
The hidden world will be revealed.
Enchanting scenes beyond belief,
Will be in your mind, forever sealed.

Please post your thoughts on Ngetel, including which plant you think it represents.  Here we get into the confusing part where different people ascribe different plants to the ogham.

If I'm not mistaken, both reed and fern are moisture-loving plants - reeds like their feet wet at the edges of lakes and ponds, and ferns like cool, shady, moist environments.  Except, I think reeds like still waters and ferns can grow alongside moving water?  At any rate, water is a vital element for both plants. :)
