Re: February Seminar - Meditation, A guide to the very basics
Thanks Bob for this detailed answer.
The reason I asked -you might have guessed- is because I have been up to know, more at ease in what I will call for lack of better vocabulary "active meditation".
As a practitioner of (neo) shamanism I am familiar with trance journeys. The purpose of a trance journey (for a practitioner) is different -at the service of community and not him/herself- than the purpose of meditation.
Having said that, I have used, in the beginning of my Bard training trance journeys techniques (drum tapes, laying down position, etc.) to achieve the visualisations in the gwersi and still do on occasions.
I would like now to develop the "still meditation" that you explain so well in this seminar : Thanks again !

Ok I also have a confession to make
I do 50% of my meditation in the bath - it just seems to work for me.
It's a peaceful, relatively empty space that I can focus in - it also fits in well between training and family duties.
Of course my wife has been known to suggest that really I'm just sleeping...
and occasionally she's been right

Thank you for the great seminar!
I'm thinking that I'll try to build a meditation bench or make the cushion. This seems like it would be an easier pose than the way I have been kneeling on the floor.

Wow, Thank you. You have certainly put a lot of time and effort into this seminar. I will be sure to read it again at least twice so I have a chance of taking it all in.
It is interesting that you have studied Buddhism and Druidry as they seem to be the two fastest growing spiritualities in the UK right now
I don't want to digress away from the subject of this seminar but would love to ask you some questions about the differences/similarities you have found between the two. My man is to be ordained as a Buddhist nun next week at Manjushri and I feel I should know a lot more about this.
Thank you.

Re: February Seminar - Meditation, A guide to the very basic
Thank you so much for this seminar. I know it is an old one, but reading through it has been very helpful. I have been attempting to meditate on and off for years now and I always find that chain thinking distracts me away from my meditation, so I will be attempting the breathing exercises to see if it helps! Thank you again for taking the time to share this with us.
